Our very own Associate Dean, Hardy Smith came to present a special presentation in May. With only a few months left of the Academy, Hardy gave us a treasure chest of ideas on how to Plan for 60 Days of Marketing.
Hardy's experience of launching his own business of professional speaking, coupled with his extensive background in PR, provided the Academy with practical tips and avenues for getting our word out in the marketplace.
It was a boost of confidence to hear so many members walk away, believing they had reality-based ideas that fit their needs.

Lenn Millbauer - We Thank You
Just how exactly does one go about organizing a presentation? In April, we were fortunate to have Lenn Millbower share his expertise in design when he delivered Creating an Effective Presentation to the Academy.
Lenn shared with us an 8 part model for structuring our presentations in a way that gets every learning need satisfied. He even had us up out of our seats as we got our whole bodies involved in the learning.
Our members walked away thankful that they had a model that could serve as a checklist for addressing all 8 needs of the audience.

Robyn Winters - We Thank You
Many of us were eager to move into the content of how best to connect with our audience. In March, Robyn brought a specific knowledge that will forever change how some participants plan out their presentations.
Whole Brain Prospecting & Marketing: Do You Speak the Way They Think? This topic focused on the 4 quadrants of the brain, and how there is a different language for each. When our day was over, it was fun to hear the academy members talk about which thinking style they were, and which they needed to better address in their own presentations.

Terri Kabachnik - We Thank You!
In March Terri brought to us her formula for success. Interactive Research: Getting to the Decision-Makers Who Need What You’ve Got was filled with a step-by-step approach to gaining information from your clients. By finding out their challenges through the approach of a study, she have found the secret to getting the C-suite calling YOU back for the outcomes of the study.
So many of us in her audience walked away with an increased confidence that we could put the recipe into action!

Richard Parker - We Thank You
How can you turn a 30-minute presentation into 13 generations of revenue stream? Well just ask Richard Parker! Richard brought to us his real-life experiences of just how to create entire generations of product from a single speech.
Richard's ideas of looking at print, audio, and video options all inspired many of our Academy members to go and create a product out of their very next speech. Some of us are even experiencing the income from acting on Richards advice.

Rod Jurado - We Thank You
In January, we were provided a customized workbook that focused on different roles of professional communicators: Speaker-Coach-Consultant-Trainer. Rod spent his time, energy and effort giving us different techniques used by each role.
It was a most comprehensive toolkit, one that we are able to go back and refer to when our clients need us to take on these roles.
Thank you Rod -for investments you made on our behalf!

Monica Wofford - We Thank You
By January, our heads are spinning with 5 months of work under our belt. We were lucky to have Monica Wofford bring us help with "Managing (Our) Heads While Running the Biz".
The pressures of launching or redefining a business, while finding the energy and confidence to keep on track can be overwhelming for anyone.
We were refreshed when Monica shared with us the authentic side of being human in this business. She shared tips and resources on how best to keep our focus and balance, all while making progress towards goals that can be very dynamic.
It was a delight to have what many said was a conversation. We thank you Monica, for bringing out our confidence in this business and reminding us how to find it over and over again, should we get off track!

Tom Shay - We Thank You
In November, Tom Shay told it like is in the real world of speaking when he delivered “The Realities of Running A Business”.
Tom's direct and frank nature about the business of professional speaking gave us insight to the difference between being a speaker as a hobby and running your business as your only means of income.
He was able to share the in's and outs of the real work, the office set-up, and the pro's and con's of being in the business.
Tom, you told us the truth from your perspective and we thank you for giving us this insight.

George Morrisey - We Thank You
In October, we were honored to learn from the man responsible for defining strategic planning in the business world. George Morrisey took the time to customize his presentation, “Creating Your Future: Personal Strategic Planning for Speakers, Trainers and Consultants", so that we might lay the foundation for a long-term career and business plan in our profession.
George equipped us with a conversation we each need to have with ourselves, if we are to move forward. The conversation supported by tried and tested tools helped many of us gain the clarity we needed to establish better marketing plans, product plans, and most of all , personal plans.
George, we thank you for your support in our success!

Betsy Barbieux - We Thank You
In September, we were treated to our very own image consultant Betsy Barbieux. While she is a speaker, trainer, facilitator, and many other wonderful titles, the expertise Besty brought to us was captured in her presentation titled "Presenting Your Personal Image by Putting your Best Foot Forward".
By the time several of us walked away, we gained insight to the 4 seasons of color palette's, the dress code for meetings before and during our keynotes, and general tips on how to shop in a way that makes the most of who we are.
Besty, we all are better equiped to look and feel great when we present thanks to you!

Many thanks to Pam Lontos for being our first guest presenter. Pam presented “How to Increase Your Fees and Get More Bookings with Publicity”.
Pam's experience in the PR business was customized to our audience of professional speakers. Her ideas on how to write articles and get published gave everyone an insight on how to build credibility for our topic of expertise and get our names out there.

Year End Appreciation
The 2007-2008 NSA Central Florida Speaker's Academy is coming to a close. Over the last 10 months we have crossed many bridges and created many paths. During our May meeting, we agreed that perhaps one of the best ways to say "thank you" would be through the use of technology.
Why? If we create "Thank You's" in the form of a Blog, we will be helping to support our fellow Chapter Members by leaving our testimonials and appreciation of the expertise for all to see. We hope this serves as a positive link to the great work being done by our professional speakers.
On behalf of myself and Hardy Smith, it has been a great pleasure serving you this year.
